NATIONAL DIGITAL LITERACY COMPETITION 2022

VIRTUAL COMPUTER BASED TEST LITERACY

With the technological advancements in every sector of the economy, education is not far behind. Most educational institutes and examination conducting bodies have started taking exams through computers to assess the knowledge, skill and aptitude of the candidates. Because of the immense advantages of computer-based examinations, International examination bodies have shifted their mode of exam to a computer-based exam.This way of testing is important because it can measure different skills or sets of knowledge in order to provide new and better information about a student's abilities.

Universities, Colleges, Secondary and Primary schools in the United States, Canada, Nigeria and most locations around the world are also adopting Computer-based tests for their internal results and for admission purposes as they can make result compilations and admissions process more easier and also helps to aid decision making quickly.
Computer-based tests can be taken with minimal or no previous computer experience.

Considering computer-based tests are here to stay, it is very important for students; especially in Primary and Secondary school levels to get themselves acquainted with the system to enable them compete favorably with their contemporaries globally and stay up to date with latest changes in education and technology.

WHY DID WE CHOOSE COMPUTER BASED TEST FOR THE COMPETITION?

(VIRTUAL COMPUTER BASED TEST LITERACY)

  1. Independent Location: At the state and regional levels, participants across the nation can participate and take their tests on the scheduled dates and time remotely and independently without the need to travel to the examination centers. We want to encourage students from remote areas to also take up this competition.

  2. Reduces Time: Paper-based exams take a lot of time to set up. We understand schools are engaged with a series of educational activities, so we decided to make it easier for schools to prepare their students conveniently and with little time required. Participants would get a time to start and end, after which the examination is submitted and scored automatically.

  3. Increases Security: We want to reduce and lower the risk of cheating in examinations as questions are going to be given to candidates randomly. Multiple sets of question papers would be created within similar questions and difficulty.

  4. Immediate Grading: For transparency purposes, the exams would be graded immediately. Participants upon successful submission should be able to see their performance score without delay.

  5. Dynamic and Individualized Assessment: Our testing system is dynamic and individualized as they are tailored to the categories of participants.

WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE?

This competition is open to primary and secondary levels and schools can register their pupils between the ages of 9-15 years to represent their schools.
The classes eligible for registration includes the following:

  1. Primary 4-6

  2. J.S.S 1-3

  3. S.S.S 1-2
Application fee per student is N1,000 and maximum of 10 students from a school duly registered on the portal.

Participating schools and their students would be shortlisted on the website and across all communication channels. Also, participating schools would be listed on the school search engine.

Registration mode is strictly online.

Interested schools are advised to apply and submit names of their contesting students before the application deadline.

Should there be a need for changes of students after submitting an application, schools are advised to contact the organizers for approval.

CATEGORIES OF COMPETITION

Pupils Category:
Primary 4-6

Subject areas of testing: National Values, Numeracy and Literacy.

Junior Category:
J.S.S 1-3

Subject areas of testing: English Language, Mathematics and Civic Education.

Senior Category:
S.S.S 1-2

Subject areas of testing: English Language, Mathematics and Civic Education.

TESTING PLATFORM

Across the three categories of participation and levels of competition, the testing platform to be used is Cloudnotte computer based test system.

To familiarize your students with the system, participating schools would be given a unique code that gives them free access to Cloudnotte Computer Based Test system for the duration of the competition.

Prefered Browser for the above listed devices is Chrome Browser for speed and efficiency. Kindly ensure the chrome browser on your device is updated to avoid interruptions and delays.
